Authors Amongst Us with Jenna Blum

After a summer hiatus, the third series of "Authors Amongst Us: Evenings of Books, Brie & Beaujolais" continues on Tuesday, September 14, at the Hampshire House with a talk by local author Jenna Blum on her book, The Stormchasers (2010).

The Stormchasers is the story of twins, Karena and Charles Jorge. As teenagers, Karena had always been the one to look out for her brother Charles, who suffers from bipolar disorder. But as Charles begins to refuse medication and his manic tendencies worsen, Karena finds herself caught between her loyalty to her brother and her fear for his life. Always obsessed with severe weather, whose wild and magic energy seems to mirror his own impulses, Charles begins chasing storms, and his behavior grows increasingly erratic... until a terrifying chase with Karena ends with deadly consequences, tearing the twins apart and changing their lives forever.

Jenna Blum also authored the New York Times Best-Seller Those Who Save Us (2004.) She lives in Boston and runs master novel workshops for Grub Street Writers. She spends her non-writing time on the road talking to book clubs about Those Who Save Us, which in addition to being a New York Times bestseller, was a Boston Globe bestseller, the winner of the 2005 Ribalow Prize, a Borders Book Club pick, and a favorite with book clubs across the country. Jenna is very excited to continue her speaking tour on The Stormchasers, a novel she researched by chasing tornadoes for five years.

The cost is $15 per lecture for BHCA members in advance or $20 at the door, and $25 for non-BHCA members. Reservations may be made in advance on www.bhcivic.org or by calling 617-227-1922. The events begin with refreshments at 5:30 p.m., followed by the lecture from 6:00-7:00p.m.
